Иначе казано, има за всеки по нещо, като третото състезание, което през 2012 г. ще се проведе за първи път, е с дължина 120 км и денивелация над 3500 м. THASSOS BICYCLE RACES APRIL 2012

-TOUR OF THASSOS

On the weekend of 28 of April – 29 April 2012 under the supervision of the Environmental Movement of Thassos, Thassos bicycle races are going to take place. Particular, on Saturday 28 of April, Tour of Thassos is going to take place for fourth year in a row. This race is about 95 km and its route is all around the island. Furthermore, on Saturday morning at 8.00, there will be a race which will take place for the first time in entire Greece. A race of 120 km plus 3800m around the mountains of Thassos. This race is called ULTRA CHALLENGE MTB THASSOS 120km (UCMT 120km). On Sunday 29 of April, and for 8th year in a row, theINTERNATIONAL RACE OF MOUNTAIN BIKE (MTB THASSOS CUP) will take place. We are going to have an extra race of children running, which will include ages from 8-12 years old. We are going to publish more information in the future.

ROUTES

The route of MTB Thassos Cup, is going to be the same as the previous year. You can see more information in the website.

The route of ULTRA CHALLENGE MTB THASSOS will start from the same starting point, it will move towards the main ring road to Limenaria, it will cross the department of Kavilia just outside Limenaria, and it will head to the next village which is Maries. There we will find the outskirts of Ai Smati, the first mountain of the route. The first 15 km of the race are going to be in a form of pre-start, and are on the main road. After that, ground road starts and the race starts normal. For about 25 km, the route moves west and it ends at the traditional village of Mikro Kazaviti, where the first checkpoint is located. Next the route up hills to the northern side of the island to end at Panagia, where the second checkpoint is, then it will make a nice circle round all over Golden Beach. Main road again until the village of Kinira where the last checkpoint is. The route continues to the east side of the island and it heads on the mountain once more all the way to Potos where the finish line is, at the famous St.Antonio Beach.

The route of Tour of Thassos race is basically the round main road of the island. All the details are going to be decided by the Environmental committee and they will be published at once.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

There are no conditions in order to participate, because the races are open for the public. But considering the big difficulty or mountain routes, a good physical condition, full race equipment, and many reserves, are required. Especially for the UCMT 120 athletes must be in perfect body shape and must have very high endurance but also mental strength as well. They have to be experienced in long distance mountain race, and in night driving conditions as well.

For those who desire to run in both races ( Tour of Thassos and MTB THASSOS CUP) there will be an extra and unique category where the first 3 best times, from both races, are going to be awarded:

-1rst Cup
-2nd & 3rd Metal 

AWARDS

The first 3 of each category of the MTB THASSOS CUP race are going to get trophies.
Places 4, 5, and 6 of each category are going to get metals.

The first 3 of each category of the UCMT 120 race are going to get trophies.
All the rest who make it to the finish are going to get memorial metals.

In the race TOUR OF THASSOS, the first of each category will get a trophy.
Places 2, and 3 will get metals.

COST

In order to participate in the MTB race you have to pay a fee of 15€ which includes:

-Memorial T-shirt
-Diploma of Participation.
-Refreshing and supplies during the races
-Memorial gift 

In order to participate in the TOUR OF THASSOS race you have to pay a fee of 20 € which includes:

-Memorial T-shirt
-Diploma of Participation.
-Refreshing and supplies during the races
-Memorial gift 

In order to participate in UCMT 120 you have to pay a fee of 30€ which includes:

-Memorial T-shirt
-Diploma of Participation.
-Refreshing and supplies during the races 

NOTICES

All the applications will be made through the registration form in our website www.mtb-thassos.com

The payment for all the races will be finalized through a bank deposit to the NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE under the account number 260/342669-60 (IBAN GR 1201102600000026034266960) and under the name of KATSONI ELENI. 

The application forms will be accepted only after the deposit of the fee in each race’s occasion, and until 20/04/2011. In the deposit, you must definitely complete you name and surname and the name of the race you want to participate.

THE COPY OF THE DEPOSIT MUST BE SENT TO THE SECRETARY OF THE RACES.

MTB THASSOS CUP will have up to 180 athletes from Greece and abroad
TOUR OF THASSOS will have up to 150 athletes.
UTMC 120 will have up to 100 athletes.

In order to register completely, you will have to pay the fee that is needed.
The registration period for all the races starts on 1st of December 2011
The payment of the accommodation will be done to the owner of the hotel-room.

Hotels and room rental business will offer 1 or 2 nights in the price of 10 or 20 Euros per person. About your accommodation you have to decide and take care of it by yourselves. You can see a list of hotels and rooms to let businesses in our website www.mtb-thassos.com
